After the collapse of the Hindu-Muslim alliance during the independence movement of the subcontinent, a party gave voice to the ideas of the Muslims in view of the lack of representation of the Muslims in the Congress. As a result, in 1930, Allama Iqbal’s Allahabad speech, the idea of establishing a separate Muslim state was first presented, which led to the beginning of the Pakistan movement. The continuous efforts of the same party formed in 1906 led to the passage of the Pakistan Resolution in 1940 and, under the leadership of a wise leader like Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the dream of millions of Muslims of the subcontinent was fulfilled on the bright morning of August 14, 1947. This party that turned Pakistan from a dream into a reality was none other than the Muslim League. The first government in Pakistan was formed by the Muslim League. Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah was appointed as the first Governor-General of Pakistan, while Liaquat Ali Khan was appointed as the first Prime Minister. This continuous struggle led to differences of opinion in the party, and in 1950, the Muslim League split into different groups. This newly formed state of the Muslims of the subcontinent was not capable of coping with any political instability, at that time it was necessary to protect the borders. The political instability arising in the new state could prove to be a poison for freedom. The enemy could attack at any time and once again integrate Pakistan into the map of the Indian subcontinent, so the command was given to the army. Which had the support of the Muslim League. During martial law, the Muslim League was renamed the Convention Muslim League. In 1970, during the fall of the Bhutto government and the martial law of General Zia-ul-Haq, the Muslim League took a new form and once again created its own political identity in the central province of Punjab, Pakistan, whose leadership was credited to Prime Minister Mian Nawaz Sharif for many decades to come. After the death of General Zia-ul-Haq in 1988, the faction of the Muslim League that Mian Nawaz Sharif took over the leadership of was renamed the Muslim League-N in 1993 after its leader. After Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the only leadership that the Muslim League has received that has truly expanded Pakistan and put it on the path of development is the leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif.

Under the leadership of Mian Nawaz Sharif, the Muslim League (N) won the elections three times in 1990, 1997, and 2013 and formed the government and ensured the construction of infrastructure for the country’s economic development. It adopted a policy of institutional reform and privatization. It built commercial highways like motorways. It restored several communication roads. In 1998, in response to India’s nuclear explosions, it not only strengthened the country’s defense but also brought Pakistan into the list of major nuclear powers in the world. To control the lack of energy, projects like Neelum-Jhelum Hydropower Project and Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power were implemented. Terrorism was controlled and above all, the path was paved for projects like CPEC, which can improve the economic condition of not only Pakistan but also the entire region. This journey of building Pakistan did not prove to be easy for the leadership of the PML-N. In 1999, General Pervez Musharraf’s martial law ended the government of Nawaz Sharif and he went into exile. In 2007, Nawaz Sharif returned to the country and was re-elected as the democratic Prime Minister in 2013. This was the period when all his attention was focused on CPEC, solving the energy crisis and the war on terrorism. However, in 2017, after the Panama Leaks, the elected Prime Minister was once again declared ineligible. After the court decision disqualifying Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, his brother Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif took over the leadership of the PML-N, carrying forward his brother’s mission. Before leading the Muslim League, Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, like his elder brother, had not only impressed Punjab with his political insight but had also won the honor of being the best administrator as the Chief Minister of Punjab for 10 consecutive years. His performance in Punjab was his identity, which is why the Chief Ministers who came after him in the province failed to introduce themselves to the public without mentioning him. The services that Mian Shahbaz Sharif rendered in the province as the Chief Minister became his identity.
Shahbaz Sharif introduced exemplary infrastructure projects in Punjab, which are of key importance in the economic development of the province. World-class travel facilities were provided in the form of Metro Bus Service, Speedo and Orange Line Train. Special Economic Zones and one-window services were launched for ease of doing business and attracted the attention of investors. Keeping in mind the public needs, scholarships, endowment funds, free education and free treatment facilities were provided in the education and health sectors. Centers of Excellence like Danish School were established. Taking advantage of relations with friendly countries, he provided the province with the first liver transplant hospital. He made it possible to establish a hospital like Tayyip Erdogan in a relatively small city like Muzaffargarh. For the first time, power plants were installed at the provincial level to control the energy crisis. An anti-terrorism force was established to control terrorism. The speed and quality of development works during Shahbaz’s tenure began to be appreciated internationally.Despite coming into power at that time, the opposition could not reduce Shahbaz Sharif’s popularity, and instead managed to perform better. This is why not only did the PML-N members accept Shahbaz Sharif’s leadership with joy, but the PDM, an alliance of political parties formed against the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf in 2022, also made Shahbaz Sharif its representative and elected him as the Prime Minister on behalf of the PDM. Now, while Shahbaz Sharif is moving forward with the PML-N agenda in the federation, Maryam Nawaz Sharif is moving forward with the PML-N mission in Punjab and has surpassed her uncle in her performance. All the public welfare projects that were part of the manifesto of the Muslim League till now are being made a reality during the tenure of Maryam Nawaz Sharif. Although the education and health sectors were of key importance during the Nawaz and Shehbaz eras as well, Maryam Nawaz has increased the budget of these sectors and in order to make its use more effective, the focus is also on the problems of teachers along with the curriculum and the obstacles hindering the educational performance of students from the backward classes. Efforts are being made to solve problems like malnutrition to improve the mental abilities of children. For this purpose, a school nutrition program was introduced after the summer vacations. Such schools that had zero, single or two teachers and the number of students there was below 100 for a long time were handed over to various institutions, NGOs and individuals so that the number of students could be increased along with the improvement in the performance of these schools and children out of schools could be brought to schools. This school reform project was named Schools Reorganization. An e-transfer policy has been introduced to streamline the system of posting and transfer of teachers and make it free from corruption. A new education policy has been formulated to keep the curriculum updated and free from shortcomings, to meet the shortage of teachers and to avoid problems in new recruitments, in which all such problems of the education department have been discussed. In addition to all this, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif not only restored the laptop scheme to instill interest in higher education among students, but also started the provision of motorcycles to remove their travel difficulties. Interestingly, along with boys, girls have also been given full representation in the motorcycle scheme. Education in international universities and a youth loan program are also being started for talented students. Which will not only help in reducing the burden of their educational expenses but will also provide them with opportunities to benefit from small businesses. In this regard, the upgradation of TEVTA institutions is also a top agenda of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, which will provide better opportunities for technical and vocational training to the youth along with education. Training programs under TEVTA will be aligned with the demand of global markets so that training objectives as well as employment can be ensured. Upgradation of hospitals to improve health facilities has been done from time to time during the tenure of former Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif and there was a lot of noise about it during the opposition period as well. Even so, with such a large population, construction and repair of hospitals and increase in facilities has become a permanent duty of the government. Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif is introducing field hospitals and clinics on well to provide emergency services and urgent treatment facilities to the people of Punjab at the local level along with improving the condition of the existing hospitals, which will ensure the provision of services to the people at the doorsteps of their homes. Under this project, the people of Punjab can get treatment and medicine from home through a mobile app. In this short period of four to five months, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has also won the honor of launching Pakistan’s first air ambulance service in Punjab. Preparations are complete for the establishment of the first government cancer hospital in Lahore. The Chief Minister of Punjab is well aware of the problems of her people. This is why she is taking concrete steps to control inflation. In this regard, while actions are being taken against high-end sellers and illegal profiteers under the regular enforcement authority, the provision of solar systems has also been started to get rid of heavy electricity bills. Government lands are being provided for housing schemes to provide houses to low-income homeless people. Another major achievement of Maryam Nawaz Sharif is the establishment of IT City. Which will encourage investors from all over the world to invest in Punjab. Thus, the establishment of IT City will not only provide new avenues for education and research for the youth but will also increase investment in the province. Ease of doing business will be created. Increase in economic activities will make it possible to control poverty and unemployment. Establishment of economic and industrial zones in IT City and one-window services for ease of doing business will make it more effective. On the instructions of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, for the first time in history, a database of the population of every city, every street and every neighborhood of Punjab has been prepared, which will improve the coverage of social security schemes in the province. It is worth noting that as a female Chief Minister, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, along with other responsibilities, has a major responsibility to protect women’s rights, which she has been ensuring since day one. The establishment of the first virtual women’s police station in the Safe City Authority and the provision of the Women’s Safety App are major initiatives by Maryam Nawaz Sharif for her fellow women. In the future, many such initiatives will be seen in Punjab that will ensure the safety of women. Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, the PML-N is successfully continuing the process of building and developing Pakistan. If this process of building and developing continues in the same way, the stability of the dear homeland is certain. This is the reason why the PML-N has achieved remarkable success in the by-elections held in various constituencies.
