KARACHI (Big Digit) Karachi Dr. Saddam Saleh, recently appointed Assistant Director Medical at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), has made remarkable improvements in infection control and medical service delivery during his initial months in office. His efforts have earned him praise from the Secretary of Sindh Health Department and the Executive Director of JPMC.
Under his leadership, a Free Infectious Disease Testing and Research Unit has been launched within the central clinical laboratory, benefiting both in-patients and OPD visitors. The supply of high-grade antibiotics, disposable gowns, aprons, and gloves in ICUs has resulted in an 80% reduction in ventilator-associated infections.
State-of-the-art German surgical sutures have improved surgery quality, while free contrast for CT and MRI scans is being provided. Work is underway to implement a hospital-wide “contrast-free policy.” Moreover, the long-unavailable “Tetagram-P” injection for epilepsy patients has now been made available again.
Strict daily monitoring has been introduced to ensure timely drug supply and prevent theft. The Medical ICU team appreciated Dr. Saddam’s contribution, stating that VAP (Ventilator-Associated Pneumonia) cases have significantly reduced under his guidance.
The Young Doctors Association Sindh, YDA Karachi, and JPMC staff have lauded Dr. Saddam’s untiring efforts. He reaffirmed his commitment to improving patient care and enhancing the standard of medical services.
