KARACHI (Big Digit) Karachi Chairman of Mauripur Town, Humayun Muhammad Khan, along with Vice Chairman Asif Kausar and Municipal Commissioner Javed Qamar, presented the Annual Budget for the fiscal year 2025-26, estimating a total outlay of approximately Rs. 1.99 billion. The budget was approved by majority vote in an official session held at the Mauripur Town Council Hall on June 25. The meeting was attended by council members, officers, and other stakeholders and began with the recitation of the Holy Quran. According to the budget details, 66.44% of the funds are allocated to non-development expenditures and 33.46% to development projects. The opening balance stands at Rs. 451,270, with an OZT share from the Government of Sindh amounting to Rs. 1.67 billion, property tax estimated at Rs. 60 million, self-generated income at Rs. 64 million, and a projected grant of Rs. 200 million from the provincial government, bringing the total revenue to Rs. 1.99 billion. Non-development expenses include Rs. 1.23 billion for salaries, Rs. 350 million for other expenditures, and Rs. 120 million for maintenance and repair, while development expenditures are estimated at Rs. 857 million. Total projected expenses stand at Rs. 2.56 billion, with a calculated deficit of Rs. 567 million. Addressing the council, Chairman Humayun Muhammad Khan stated that the budget is based on public welfare, infrastructure enhancement, sanitation, beautification, and employee welfare. Despite limited resources, a comprehensive and people-friendly budget has been formulated through consultation with all council members, aiming to set a positive precedent for the town’s development and prosperity in the days ahead.
