ISLAMABAD (Big Digit) Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has said that if India violates the ceasefire, ‘immediate and decisive response’ will be given by Pakistan. In an interview with British broadcaster Sky News, DG ISPR Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry warned that any ceasefire violation by India would be met with a “quick and decisive response” from Pakistan, and warned that serious tensions between the two countries could lead to mutual destruction.
It should be noted that the military confrontation between India and Pakistan began when India blamed Islamabad for an attack on tourists in the tourist resort of Pahalgam in occupied Kashmir.
Later, on the night of May 6-7, New Delhi launched a series of air strikes on Pakistan, resulting in civilian casualties in Pakistan, after which Pakistan launched a retaliatory strike, which continued for a few days, after which the parties finally agreed to a ceasefire after US intervention.
On May 10, when tensions between the two countries were at their peak, US President Donald Trump announced that a ceasefire had been reached between India and Pakistan.
According to the Pakistani government, 40 civilians, including 7 women and 15 children, were killed in the Indian aggression, while 121 civilians were injured.
Speaking to Sky News, the DG ISPR warned that a war-mad India was preparing a ‘prescription of mutual destruction’, adding that the world was now recognizing the nuclear threat.
Lt Gen Chaudhry added that “any country like America understands the folly and what the Indians are trying to do here.”
Talking about India’s actions in Kashmir, he accused India of trying to “internalize the issue and harass the people” of Kashmir with a heavy military presence (in occupied Kashmir).
The DG ISPR said, “This is an issue that the Kashmiri people have to resolve as per the UN Security Council resolution.”
He added: “Whoever tries to violate our territorial integrity and sovereignty, our response will be befitting.”
The DG ISPR warned that “serious tensions between India and Pakistan will destroy both countries under the concept of ‘mutual assured destruction’.” Mutual assured destruction or MAD is a principle of military strategy and national security policy that holds that the use of nuclear weapons in a war between two nuclear-armed countries will destroy both countries. In a press conference held last week after the ceasefire, the DG ISPR warned that the conflict between Islamabad and New Delhi could pose a threat to “over 1.6 billion people.” The DG ISPR added that “in fact, there is no scope for war between India and Pakistan.”
