Islamabad (Big Digit) In the National Assembly session, prayers were offered for the Pakistanis martyred in the cowardly attacks of India, while a joint resolution of gratitude for the success of ‘Battle of Truth’ Operation Bunyan Marsus was unanimously passed. The session was chaired by National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq. Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that dozens of Pakistanis were martyred in the cowardly attacks by India on May 7, apart from this, there were many such incidents in Pakistan. Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that prayers should be offered for the martyrs in all these incidents, to which Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Ali Muhammad Khan prayed for the martyrs. Meanwhile, it came to light in the session that the government was unaware of the rate at which the poverty rate in the country was increasing. Federal Minister for Planning Ahsan Iqbal submitted a written reply to the National Assembly, stating that the last survey of the poverty rate in the country was conducted in 2018-19. The Federal Minister for Planning said that the poverty rate in the year 2018-19 was 21.9 percent, the latest survey of total family income and expenditure is scheduled for 2025. The written reply further said that the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics is collecting data to determine the poverty rate. During the question hour in the National Assembly session, PTI Member of National Assembly Bashir Khan raised the question of which institutions have been privatized and what is the detail of the amount received? Parliamentary Secretary Asia Ishaq replied in the National Assembly that the privatization of PIA will be completed in October-November. Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that you will not get a unique property from Roosevelt, the government is thinking of working on it as a joint venture, otherwise the government wants to sell Roosevelt completely. Speaking in the National Assembly session, Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said that a resolution is being brought regarding today’s day, Pakistan’s armed forces protected the borders and we emerged victorious. All political parties present in the parliament united and raised the slogan of Pakistan Zindabad. The Federal Minister said that today’s resolution has been prepared with the permission and cooperation of all political parties. A joint resolution expressing gratitude for the success of Operation Banyan Marsus was unanimously passed in the National Assembly session, which was presented by Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar. The text of the resolution states that the entire nation prostrates before Allah Almighty for the success against the enemy’s aggression, the House pays tribute to the Armed Forces of Pakistan for protecting the sovereignty and integrity of Pakistan. According to the resolution, the National Assembly pays tribute to the brave men who were martyred in the Indian attacks, the House thanks friendly countries for supporting Pakistan. The resolution further states that the House supports Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to global peace and stability. Minister of State for Interior Talal Chaudhry presented the Islamabad Capital Territory Local Government Amendment Bill 2025 in the House, which was referred to the relevant Standing Committee. Similarly, the Off-The-Grid (Captive Power Plants) Levy Ordinance 2025 was presented in the National Assembly. Syed Naveed Qamar of the Pakistan People’s Party expressed reservations over the government’s presentation of the ordinance. Syed Naveed Qamar said that the government is relying on the issuance of ordinances instead of the traditional method of legislation. In the meeting, Federal Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Dr. Tariq Fazal Chaudhry presented the National School of Public Policy Amendment Bill 2025 in the House. Similarly, the Easy Business Bill 2025 was presented in the National Assembly by Federal Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh. Similarly, the Petroleum Act 1934 Amendment Bill was presented in the National Assembly, the Petroleum Amendment Bill 2025 was presented by Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervez Malik. PML-N MLA Saad Waseem presented the Income Tax (Second Amendment) Bill 2025 in the National Assembly. The report of the Standing Committee on Interior on the Pakistan Citizenship Amendment Bill 2024 was presented in the House. The report of the Standing Committee on Interior on the Pakistan Land Port Authority Bill 2024 and the Grant of Citizenship Amendment Bill 2024 was also presented in the National Assembly. The Special Technology Zones Authority Amendment Bill 2025 was presented in the National Assembly in the form approved by the Senate. The National Assembly approved the Special Technology Zones Authority Amendment Bill 2025 by a majority vote. During the session, a motion was moved to present the National Commission for Minority Rights Bill 2025 in the House. Federal Law Minister Azam Nazir Tarar said that there is a need to establish a commission to protect the rights of minorities, and there is a consensus among the members of the Senate and the National Assembly on this bill. The Federal Law Minister said that the commission will be taken from the Ministry of Religious Affairs and placed under the Ministry of Human Rights, and there will also be independent members in the commission.
