ISLAMABAD (Big Digit) The 78th meeting of the Development Working Party (CDA-DWP) was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Division, Ministry of Interior, Finance Division, members of the CDA Board along with representatives from relevant formations and project consultants.

ISLAMABAD: (PR: Dated November 20, 2025)(Big Digit): The 78th meeting of the Development Working Party (CDA-DWP) was held on Thursday under the chairmanship of Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa. The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Division, Ministry of Interior, Finance Division, members of the CDA Board along with representatives from relevant formations and project consultants.

According to details, important projects for the Capital City Islamabad were approved in the 78th meeting of the CDA-DWP. The PC-I for the construction of the New Islamabad Convention, Expo and Exhibition Centre (NICEEC), costing 19.371 billion rupees, was approved in the meeting. The forum was informed that this will be a multifunctional centre where national and international conventions, exhibitions, and cultural events can be held. This centre will strengthen Islamabad’s position as a hub for commerce, innovation, and cultural exchange, and the SCO summit scheduled for 2027 will also be hosted at this convention centre. The project’s completion timeframe has been set at 18 months.

The project for the construction of 6 steel pedestrian bridges at various locations in Islamabad was approved at a cost of 574.682 million rupees. The construction of these bridges will reduce accidents, improve traffic congestion and provide better facilities for school children, elderly and persons with disabilities. The project’s completion timeframe is 18 months.

Projects aimed at promoting sports activities in the city were also discussed in the meeting.

Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa said that these projects are highly significant for the development of the Federal Capital Islamabad and the improvement of civic facilities for its residents. He directed that effective measures be taken to complete these projects within the stipulated timelines and that no compromise be made on quality. Chairman CDA further said that all resources will be utilized to make the Federal Capital Islamabad one of the best Capital’s in the world, ensuring the provision of the best possible facilities to its citizens.
