ISLAMABAD (Big Digit) Field Marshal Asim Munir was awarded Saudi Arabia’s highest honor

ISLAMABAD (Big Digit) Saudi Arabia’s Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz has awarded the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class, the highest Saudi honor, to Chief of Defense Forces and Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir for his efforts to promote Pak-Saudi relations. According to the report, there are five categories of the King Abdulaziz Medal: Excellent, First, Second, Third, and Fourth Class. This honor is typically bestowed upon those who have rendered exceptional services to Saudi Arabia or one of its institutions. Field Marshal Asim Munir was awarded this honor in recognition of his outstanding efforts to strengthen strategic relations and cooperation between the two countries. According to the report, the ceremony was held during a reception hosted in honor of Field Marshal Asim Munir by the Saudi Defense Minister in Riyadh. Prince Khalid bin Salman congratulated Field Marshal Asim Munir on his appointment as Pakistan’s Chief of Defense Forces and expressed his best wishes for him. During the meeting, both sides reviewed the historical relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and strategic cooperation in the defense sector, while establishing global peace and security, and matters of mutual interest were also discussed.
On the other hand, the Saudi Defense Minister said on the social media platform X that, on the instructions of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, he presented the King Abdulaziz Medal of Excellent Class to Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir for his outstanding services in enhancing Pak-Saudi cooperation and taking relations forward. Later, the ISPR said in a statement that during the meeting, matters of mutual interest, including the regional security situation, defense and military cooperation, strategic partnership, and changing geopolitical challenges, were discussed. The meeting reaffirmed the deep, historical, and brotherly relations between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. The statement said that this medal is the highest national award of Saudi Arabia, which is a recognition of Field Marshal Asim Munir’s distinguished military services, leadership, and his key role in promoting defense cooperation, strategic coordination, and institutional ties between the two countries. According to the ISPR, this award also reflects his services for peace and stability in the region, including continuous cooperation in the field of counter-terrorism and security. It should be noted that this year, a strategic mutual defense agreement was signed between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia, under which an attack on either country will be considered an aggression against both. In November, the head of the Saudi armed forces expressed his desire to take the defense and strategic partnership with Pakistan to new heights, while on December 3, Field Marshal Asim Munir expressed satisfaction with the strong defense cooperation between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
